High-Level Leaders Compact on Water Security & Resilience
The Madrid Commitment on Water Security, Sanitation, & Climate Resilience
One in four people worldwide – more than 2 billion – lack safely managed drinking water; 3.4 billion lack safely managed sanitation; and 1.7 billion are without basic hygiene services at home. The High-level Leaders Compact – the Madrid Commitment to Action – aims to accelerate progress toward universal access to climate-resilient drinking water and sanitation services and to strengthen sustainable water management at all levels, serving as a foundation for human rights, prosperity, and stability.
