Country Overview

SWA partners—governments, development agencies, civil society, the private sector, research institutions, and utilities and regulators—are central to ensuring meaningful outcomes from the SMM. Partners will work together with the government in preparing strong, evidence-based approaches, facilitate inter-ministerial engagement, as well as identify and agree on where to take action.

The development of the Country Overview is part of the preparatory process. With multi-stakeholder input, joint sector analysis, budget discussions, and sector diagnostics, partners are asked to summarize how water, sanitation and hygiene contributes to national climate and development goals, and identify SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) commitments, which can be uploaded in the Mutual Accountability Mechanism.

The following template has been developed to provide a single-entry point for the preparatory process for the Sector Ministers Meeting. Country preparation leads are encouraged to conduct a partner workshop to fill in the following form.

The template follows a two-step process:

  1. Completion of the country self-assessment;

  2. Completion of the Country Profile and review/addition of new commitments through the Mutual Accountability Mechanism (MAM).
